China and the United States

Former US Congressman Ed Case, wife Audrey, and Don Eads discuss China-US Relations.

This is perhaps the defining relationship of the 21st century. If China and the US get it right, then the world will be a different place than if either side drops the ball. For the past 35 years of my life, I have been riveted on this relationship and the implications. That is what the Fifth Annual 21st Century China Symposium is all about.

When I first went to China to teach and minister, I realized all of the book learning does not really givce an accurate picture. I think the same thing applies to Chinese coming to Hawaii and America. One of the primary goals of our 3-day event is to help both sides understand each other better, especially within the context of Hawaii and Asia Pacific relations on all levels.

In the past we have had tremendous speakers and presentations, including former Mayor of Hawaii Harry Kim, who totally supports us. Professors from Hawaii and China have had the opportunity to air their views and meet each other. Graduate students have presented papers and shared their experiences. We have had wonderful entertainment and shared meals together.

2009 promises to be even better. This year we are doing the events on Oahu from July 17-19. Plan now to be an integral part of this growing China-US cooperation event. Learn about 21st Century China from experts who can help us all understand our relationship with the Land of the Dragon better.

Aloha,
